Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, IPAC chairman Ogun State. |
The labour party in Ogun State led by Comrade Abayomi Arabambi who doubles as Chairman of Intra Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has filled a fresh petition to the high court in Abeokuta challenging the impersonation of one Olaposi Oginni who has sent a petition on behalf of the governorship candidate of the party, Mrs Modupeola Sanyaolu and others.
Arabambi, described Olaposi Oginni and others as a mere joker after dishonoring court invitations today but embraced a closed door meeting with the former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba at the time when they supposed to be before the court to defend their porous petitions.
Comrade Olaposi Oginni with Chief Olusegun Osoba and Ayo Olubori |
He said rule of law must take its course as it is in the constitution for a rerun if such mistake comes from INEC, while praying for the the tribunal to order for a rerun in the last governorship election.
The petition of Olaposi Oginni and others based been thrown out today after they lack evidence and for absences of the applicants in today's tribunal.
The petition left unattended to for now is the one of Dapo Abiodun Vs Labour Party and APM said Arabambi.
According to Mrs Modupeola Sanyaolu, she said their is no other chairman of labour party in Ogun State other than comrade Abayomi Arabambi as it is shown in the Independent National Electoral Commission's record that she is the governorship candidate of the party.
She described the exclusion of her party (Labour Party) in the ballot papers in the March 9th governorship election in Ogun State as negligence on the part of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
She vowed to seek for judgement from the court after she has been denied of performing her civic rights and taking record of her popularity as a candidate.
Meanwhile, counsel to Comrade Abayomi Arabambi (Labour Party) Hassan Balogun (Swiss Attorney) said there are two petitions sent from Modupeola Sanyaolu, one was maliciously signed on behalf by set of people who claimed to be labour party members, while second is the one to challenge INEC on exclusion of her party from ballot papers. Our law firm led by Mr Sina Sofela SAN filed an application on behalf of our client when we received an application from set of people whom we believe are with the intention of raising money from politicians. We got the copy of the petition and we saw the file was purportedly filed on behalf of our client ( Mrs Modupeola Sanyaolu ) which he we got to know our client and the Labour Party chairman ( Comr. Abayomi Arabambi ) was not a deponent to the said petitions, we had no choice than to believe them, but who gave them the authority to write a petition without letter of Authority, and that was why we requested for the letter of authority through their lawyer as a professional in the law firm.
Our letter was dated on 18th of March and was also acknowledged the next day and up till now we have not seen any response from their firm.
After waiting for them to send us letter of authority, we had to file a letter to the chairman of the tribunal to inform them that these people's are impersonators.
It is well known in this our profession that it is not possible to file two petitions simultaneously as it will amount to abuse of court process, which the impersonators was with the believe that our petition will not be granted but we were in court today to present our applications with the disclaimer from the Labour Party National Chairman to tell the court he doesn't know ( Oginni and Others) , Comrade Abayomi Arabambi also wrote another petition directly to the tribunal chairman informing them that those impersonators are not members of Labour Party in Ogun State.

The applications has honourably granted us fair view, since there is only one candidate in the Labour Party in Ogun State which I believe the court will be in the best position to give us the final judgement.
While trying to ask if the people who impersonates Labour Party failed to appear before the court what would have caused it?
Yes, the person (s) might be afraid of getting arrested for impersonating as it is, again the rule of law.
