The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the suspension of admissions into three major health-related programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
A statement by the Registrar of the university, Dr Mrs Chukwuka Icha, made available to journalists in Calabar Friday by the university’s Public Relations Unit disclosed that Medicine and Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science, and Dentistry will not admit new students for the upcoming academic session.
The statement advised all candidates who selected UNICAL as their first-choice institution for any of the affected programmes to immediately visit the nearest Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) office to process a change of institution.
According to the release, the deadline for completing the change of institution process is the end of July 2026.
