The Adamawa state police command has arrested a suspect, identified as Abubakar Musa, over the alleged killing of 30 year old Nathaniel Yusuf in Jambutu Ward, Yola North local government council.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare by the deceased’s sister, Grace Yusuf, who alleged that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.

Police operatives reportedly responded promptly to the distress call, rescued the victim from the scene, and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for emergency treatment. The suspect was also arrested at the scene.

Preliminary investigations, according to the command, indicated that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head injuries after he was allegedly assaulted with a stick.

Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Nathaniel Yusuf was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment, the police said

The state commissioner of police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law.

The deceased’s body, the police said, has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy, while investigations continue.

The police command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice in the case and appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and continue providing credible information to support ongoing investigations.
